Terry's chocolate orange muffins

Who ADORES these?

If the answer is YES to the above question then it’s time to grab your apron and BAKE these Terry’s chocolate orange muffins. I’m 99.9% certain that you will feel extremely satisfied after you’ve eaten one of these flavoursome treats. However, one will lead to two, and two will lead to three. Trust me, they truly are irresistible.

So lets start by breaking that delicious chocolate and chopping it up. At this stage the chocolate orange smell is so overwhelming you will probably find yourself chomping on a few segments! Mr Terry would be SO offended if we didn't, so go ahead and enjoy those segments (please try to save some for the muffins).

Don't worry about chopping the chocolate up too small - it's always nice coming across a generous amount of oozing chocolate isn't it? Also, feel free to put a little to one side so at the end you can melt and drizzle it on top of your muffins!

If you still have some Terry's left to make the muffins then you will also need the following:

  • 300g self raising flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 50g cold unsalted butter cubed
  • 80g caster sugar
  • Terry's Chocolate orange
  • 2 eggs , lightly beaten
  • 225ml milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • I followed the recipe from BBC Good Food which you can find HERE. As you have probably gathered I simply substituted the chocolate chips for the Terry's - an excellent substitute if I do say so myself!

Simply add your Terry's instead of the chocolate chips when you get to that stage...

My mixture baked for around 18 minutes, I then drizzled some melted Terry's on top, captured a fair few photos and now I present you with my Terry's chocolate orange muffins...

Dawn French needs to get her hands on these bad boys!

I ran out of the plain melted Terry's but lucky enough my Sister had some dark Terry's chocolate so I drizzled this on top of the remaining muffins. The contrasting flavours of the Terry's actually work really well together so I'm thankful that I ran out of the plain!

I treated Father to a pint of tea along with a Terry's muffin and a slice of my blueberry and lemon loaf (daughter points).
The BEST thing ever is when you bake and people enjoy sampling your goodies and then give you positive feedback! I definitely can't see the Terry's lasting very long in this household.

There's nothing better than watching a film in bed, snuggled up, with a hot beverage and cake (especially a film with Ryan Gosling in). Therefore I put Crazy, Stupid, Love on and indulged in my Terry's treat...

    It's not Terry's, It's MINE

If like me, you have a household filled with TERRY'S top fans, then I suggest you treat them to these muffins asap! You will be in their good books - I promise you (well until the last muffin has been eaten).

Good luck & make Dawn proud!

    Happy Birthday Penguin

Alice AKA penguin is 23 today!!

It goes a little bit like this...I call Alice Penguin, Peng or Pengy and she calls me Pig or Piggy. A little odd, but to be fair all nicknames are odd!

Pengy has an extreme sweet tooth (like myself) so I was ecstatic to get in the kitchen and whip up a Bruce Bogtrotter! A giant cupcake sprung to my mind, so I whipped out my moulds...

I poured my sponge mixture into the moulds, allowing space for the cakes to rise. The good thing about giant cupcakes is that you need to slice off the top of your sponge so that the top can sit nicely on top. You know what this means right? Cake scraps to munch on!

With a dollop of chocolate fudge icing I throughly enjoyed the scraps. They were NOT going to waste!

With a belly weighed down with calories I was ready to make Bogtrotter gag proud...

    The end result...

I would have preferred to write 'Happy Birthday' however you've probably guessed that I ran out of letters! I therefore had to make do with 'HB' - a little blunt but it means the same thing!

The shape does look slightly odd - I must work on this for my next one!

I then needed to make something Pig and Penguin related so I also made cupcakes.

    Penguin cupcakes...

This little Piggy went to market...

Excuse the pig cupcake...I'm not an animal lover therefore I am not aware of what features a Pig has! Ooops!

Anyway I carefully drove to Peng's house. I was praying the giant cupcake wouldn't fly off the passenger seat whilst I got a little lost in Rihanna's album!

Armed with presents (and Rose) the cake and I arrived safely...

I put on my leather and fur (oh and obviously my eyelashes) and we headed out for some drinks...

Happy Birthday to my beautiful Penguin...

We woke up to balloons and Peng's mum singing Happy birthday...

We then headed downstairs for a pain au chocolat breakfast with the family and Peng's cute grandparents popped over with more presents - which may I add were wrapped beautifully!

I loved celebrating Penguin's 23rd Birthday with her and more importantly I love the fact that we are growing old together.

HB from your one and only Piggy xx

    Enjoy your Sunday roast everyone!

    Slutty Brownies

Last year The Londoner 's blog post on 'Slutty Brownies' had me drooling. I could almost taste Rosie's gooey little treats. My sweet tooth was screaming at me to turn this 'almost' into a reality. Therefore at top speed, I slipped on my shoes, grabbed my purse and dashed to my local shop. With the ingredients in hand I was good to go...

The brownies were SO easy to make and even easier to wash down with a cuppa! After our dinner party the Slutty Brownies were demolished for dessert AND we warmed them up with ice cream and strawberries for breakfast in the morning (yep we even squeezed in 1 of our 5 a day).

As the SB's (Slutty Brownies) were such a success I decided to whip them up again for this New Years Eve! What a wonderful decision! I mean you've got to start the year off as you mean to go on...

    All you need is:

Add the water stated to the cookie mix - I added a little bit extra as I'm a lover of soggy cookies NOT ones which break your teeth!

Squash your cookie dough into your lined tin...

Try not to eat all of the cookie dough and place your Oreos on top...

Add your egg to the brownie mix along with the water and oil as stated on the box...

Now pour your chocolate brownie mix on top of the oreos...

The slutty brownies need to bake for what will seem like the longest 30 minutes of your life!

    30, 29, 28, 27, 26, 25......5, 4, 3, 2, 1!

Slutty Brownies eat your heart out...and trust me they WILL get messy!

I tried my best to place these messy little treats neatly on my polka dot cupcake stand. I added some ribbon to make the chocolatey lumps seem that little bit more appealing!

I thoroughly enjoyed the SB's as did my guests. I only have one left so it's a very upsetting moment - however that's a good enough excuse to whip another batch up, right?

Rosie, thank you, in my eyes you are the BROWNIE QUEEN!

    Happy New Year everyone!
